Finding a Consultant and Adviser in My Brother

posted on 1 November 2010

Every time my dad would discuss his concerns about his construction firm, it was always uncle Al who understood him. It was because uncle Al is an architect by profession. Although he never worked with my father for any of his projects, they have managed to consult each other every now and then. They have remained supportive of each other's endeavors. Earlier today, they had lunch together. Although I'm not so sure as to the details of their conversation, I have a feeling that dad would ask uncle Al for suggestions with regard to slating and tiling to be used for their next project. Dad had always a high regard for his brother's opinion and uncle Al appreciates it every time, my dad would ask for his suggestions. Meanwhile, uncle Al runs to my father every time he has personal problems - usually it was always about his troubled marriage and his struggles as a father himself. Dad was always available to give his brother advice on personal matters. Their relationship has undeniably gone stronger as the years go by.

Moving House is a Real Battle

posted on 16 August 2010

Ever tried shifting lock, stock and barrel to a new place? If there is one thing I fiercely dread, it is the task of moving house. The anxiety and stress starts days in advance and unless you plan and organize things properly, everything will go haywire and tempers will fly. First and foremost, you need to prepare a proper inventory of all the items in the house and segregate them in the order of priority. Then, it would be advisable to dispose the ones which are in good condition but not needed by you. This way, you will raise some money which can be utilized for moving. Then prepare a thorough checklist of actions to be carried out in the order of importance. Speak to the movers in advance and have a written agreement drawn up to avoid confusion or backtracking. Arrange for the transfer of various accounts to the new place, settle all bills and keep all your friends and relatives informed about your date of moving and remember to give them your new address. And lastly, look at moving house as a chance to get on with doing new jobs on your new property - be it Kitchen planning or laying down new carpets, it's often the best time to do everything at once since your furniture is still in packages!
